Álvaro is a fly-fishing photographer, filmmaker, journalist and guide. Born in northern Spain, he has fly fished since childhood, and has since fished in more than twenty countries in search of the water that interests him most.

He started competing at thirteen and quickly made a name in Spain's National Youth Competition League. In 2004 he founded Líneas Vivas, a platform for technical writing, photography and guiding, which set his professional course. A committed caster, he earned the title of Fly Casting Master at fifteen. He then read Biological Sciences, graduating from the University of the Basque Country in 2012.

In 2016 he founded Focus on the Fly, and he has worked as a content creator for Guideline since 2019. In 2021 he founded A Mosca Magazine, where he still serves as editor, writer and photographer. He guides in Spain and abroad, including summers in Norway with the Norwegian Flyfishers Club.

He is always carrying both a rod and a camera. His subjects are rivers, mountains, wildlife and the people who move through them, and his work is aimed at getting anglers to think about their relationship with water.
